Skin Boosters
This group of injectable aesthetic treatments floods the skin with beneficial ingredients in order to boost its appearance for hydration and glow, and promote collagen induction for skin firmness, tightness, and resilience.
Profhilo is renowned for a full face or neck “boost,” with the highest concentration of Hyaluronic acid ( the deep skin hydrator!) out of all of the available skin boosters. Two treatments are recommended 1 month apart.
Jalupro and Jalupro HMW can also be used for full face rejuvenation, but are brilliant for targeted areas too. 4 treatments are recommended 1-2 weeks apart ( Jalupro), or 3 treatments 2-3 week apart ( Jalupro HMW). They contain hyaluronic acid and amino acids to improve:
Stretch marks
Under-eye shadows and peri-orbital ( around the eye) rejuvenation
Acne scarring
Patchy pigmentation
Fine lines and wrinkles
What will happen at your appointment?
Before the procedure, your medical practitioner will fully review your General Medical Questionnaire and may have some questions for you to ensure Skin Boosters are safe for you. They will explain to you about possible side effects, aftercare and follow up, and will take time to answer your questions. Some photographs will be taken for insurance purposes. These are not shared unless you agree to this.
You may have some numbing cream applied to your skin, which will take around 30 minutes to start working.
Your skin will be carefully cleaned prior to the injections.
The injections are comfortable for most patients. In fact many people opt to go without the numbing cream as it makes the process quicker. For Profhilo you will have 5 injections on each side of your face. For Jalupro it will vary. There may be lots of tiny injections in one area. This part will take from 10-20 minutes.
Afterwards your skin will be cleaned again. Your practitioner will explain to you what to do in the next few hours and days, and give you an aftercare leaflet to take with you.
Some people are surprised to hear that they will need to avoid direct sun, alcohol and exercise in the days after their treatment, but it’s so important to follow the aftercare guidance to reduce the risk of side effects and to get the best result.
Possible side effects
You may have some moderate redness, swelling, skin tightness for a few days following the procedure. It is normal to have some tiny, pale lumps in the areas injected due to the product placed there, which needs time to disperse over the next 1 to 48 hours. Bruising can happen. Don’t worry, it doesn’t mean something has gone wrong, it just means a tiny blood vessel has burst and the blood has risen to the surface. It will usually fade over 5-7 days.
Rare side effects include allergic reaction, anaphylaxis, blocked blood vessels, and necrosis of the glabella.

What’s normal after a procedure?
You may have some moderate swelling, redness, bruising and tenderness for a few days following the procedure. It is normal to have some tiny lumps in the areas injected due to the product placed there, which needs time to disperse over the next 1 to 48 hours.
How to protect your result and reduce side effects:
A clean cool compress can be used if the area is painful or swollen, but do not apply ice directly to the skin as it can cause injury.
For 24 hours after the procedure avoid alcohol consumption, and exposure to direct sunlight or extreme heat i.e. sauna, sunbeds, very hot showers, strenuous exercise. As this may increase discomfort, bruising and swelling.
How to reduce the chance of infection:
Avoid touching or washing the area that has been injected for 6 hours.
If you have to touch the area ensure your hands are clean and sanitized.
Sleep with a freshly cleaned pillowcase
Avoid makeup until the day after the procedure. Ensure your makeup brushes are clean and sanitized.
